With just a little over 3 weeks to go until PubHack #4, we are unbelievably excited about the next event. Since we released tickets for the event back in February (and them selling out in 48 hours!), we’ve been busy bees planning, building things and generally wishing it was June 25th already so we can see what you’re all going to make.
The PubHack team is made up of myself (Jo) and technical director Andy. We’ve also got additional team members joining this event, who will be filming, running social media, photography and all sorts of things that help the event run smoothly.
Lot’s of free goodies
Over the last few weeks we’ve had a lot of things arrive at the studio, in fact I need an additional office just to be able to store all the bits we’ve ordered or been sent by sponsors. We’ve got some mugs, coasters and pens from Novatech, bottles of beer from Rusty Prop Brewery, and of course the official PubHack goodies: T-shirts, Pint Glasses and Bottle Openers!
PubHack Network
This time round we have built our own wifi network for PubHack to give you a better experience.
We’ve picked up an Enterprise level access point to ensure reliable WiFi connections and we’ve also built a local firewall/caching server too. This is so that we can ensure your pages are served up as fast as possible while preserving that precious bandwidth. Our equipment was sourced from our friends over at Novatech.
As always, we recommend you bring your own backup connection… just in case.
Trophies!
The coveted PubHack awards! We have 6 awards up for grabs again this year:
- PubHack Winner
- Best Design
- Best Use of Technology
- Most Entertaining
- Most Original Concept
- Most likely to receive a lawsuit
PLUS! New ‘Audience Choice’ Award.
We think this is a really good addition, meaning you get the chance to vote for your favourite on the night. Whether you’re taking part, or coming along as a spectator, you’ll get a voting slip and can make sure your favourite team are in with a chance of winning an award!
The Judges
We’re really pleased to have original PubHack judges Dan Edwards and Tom Kentell, as well as 2 time judge Jon Burkhart back again. The judges have a really tough job every year of drinking beer all day and looking at awesome projects. No really, they do have a tough job, they only have a short amount of time to make a decision on what they’ve seen. They’ll be coming round during the day to take a look at what you’re doing, and then will have a chance after the presentations to choose the winners of the awards.
And… we’ve been shortlisted for a .Net Award
It’s so exciting that we got nominated for a .Net Award by our lovely PubHack attendees and friends – if you’d like to vote for us, there is still time!
